In the black-ish episode ‘Auntsgiving’, the Johnsons get a visit from Pops’ (Laurence Fishburne) older sister Almaviligerais. While Dre (Anthony Anderson) and Bow (Tracee Ellis Ross) take a vacation before the new baby is born, their kids try to figure out why their grandmother Ruby (Jenifer Lewis) dislikes Almaviligerais so much.
Almaviligerais is portrayed by Lorraine Toussaint. She’s known for her roles on Rosewood (Donna Rosewood), The Fosters (Dana Adams), Forever (Lt. Joanna Reece), Orange Is the New Black (Yvonne “Vee” Parker), Fright Night Lights (Bird Merriweather), Saving Grace (Kate Perry), Ugly Betty (Yoga), Crossing Jordan (Dr. Elaine Duchamps), and Any Day Now (Rene Jackson), among many others. Toussaint is also recognized for her role as Amelia Boynton in the 2014 film Selma. black-ish airs Wednesdays at 9:30pm on ABC.
