On the second week of Dancing with the Stars, Season 23, celebs and their pro dance partners will dance to TV theme songs. Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy will perform a jive routine to the TV theme song of DuckTales. The Disney cartoon, which that aired from 1987 to 1990, was about Donald Duck’s rich uncle Scrooge McDuck and his three nephews, Huey, Dewey and Louie. In 1990, Disney released DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp. But Laurie Hernandez likely never saw DuckTales on TV. She was born 10 years later in 2000. Laurie says about DuckTales: “I don’t know too much about it! Don’t forget, I’m a 2000 baby! I’ve looked it up on YouTube, and I see that it’s about ducks.”
So why is Laurie Hernandez dancing to the DuckTales theme song? One reason seems probable: Disney (which is part of ABC Television) is working on a new version of DuckTales which will air on Disney XD in 2017. Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays at 8pm on ABC.
