ABC News landed the first American broadcast of Oscar Pistorius’ exclusive interview after being found guilty of killing his fiancée Reeva Steenkamp in 2013. Pistorius is living under house arrest, awaiting his sentencing which is scheduled for July 6. He is facing a maximum of 15 years in prison. To add to the exclusive interview, ABC News correspondent Matt Gutman interviews Pistorius’ ex-girlfriend Samantha Taylor.
During Pistorius’ trial, Taylor testified that Pistorius had once shot a gun through the open sunroof of a car. They had been stopped by a police officer for speeding and Pistorius stepped out of the car, according to Taylor, leaving his gun on the seat. The officer told Pistorius that he should not have left his gun there. “Oscar shouted at the policeman and said he shouldn’t touch his gun,” Taylor testified. When the officer let them go, she added, “About two minutes later, Oscar took out his gun and shot through the roof.” ABC 20/20 will air the interviews with Pistorius and Taylor on Saturday, June 24 at 10pm.
