A tragic accident took the life of 27-year-old actor Anton Yelchin this week. The young man was admired and beloved by many who had worked with him in Hollywood. Though Yelchin had dozens of credits in his filmography, it was his work with director JJ Abrams that brought Yelchin his widest fame. Abrams cast him as Chekhov in Star Trek in 2009. Yelchin worked for Abrams on Star Trek twice more, including on Star Trek Beyond — which won’t hit theaters until July 22. Abrams called Yelchin “supremely talented” and “funny as hell.”

Justin Timberlake shared the big screen with Yelchin in 2007’s Alpha Dog. Timberlake called him a “genius actor” and “amazing human being.” Zoe Saldana, who starred in Star Trek with Yelchin said in remembrance that he was a “beautiful spirit.” Yelchin died when a vehicle rolled and pinned him against a brick wall.
Anton Yelchin.
Genius actor. Amazing human being. Gone WAY too soon.
May he rest in peace.
