Hank Paulson is the former CEO of Goldman Sachs. Paulson, a Republican, is also the former US Secretary of the Treasury who, under President George W. Bush, helped craft the big bank bailout when the financial crisis hit. But Paulson will not be voting for presumptive Republican Donald Trump. Like George Will and other conservatives, Paulson believes Trump is a problem, not a solution.
Paulson, whose chief expertise is finance, says he’ll vote for Hillary Clinton for president. Why? After all it’s Donald Trump, alleged billionaire, who claims the most business expertise among the top two presidential candidates. Writing that “I am not the first Republican to call Trump a phony,” Paulson concludes that a “Trump presidency is unthinkable.” Paulson believes that “the policies Trump endorses would destroy, not save, U.S. jobs.” Paulson followed Jon Corzine as CEO of Goldman Sachs. Corzine, a Democrat, became the divisive one-term governor of New Jersey.
