The Little Big Shots episode “Little Piece of Heavenly” features the young string quintet, Joyous Quintet. The five talented kids from Long Island – cellist Justin Yu (9); bassist Brendon Lau (11); and violinists Mickayla Jia (9), Tyler Lau (9), and Christine Yu (6) – perform Tchaikovsky’s “Dance of the Little Swans” from Swan Lake on the big stage.
This isn’t the quartet’s first time playing on a big stage. They performed on Ellen in September and performed at the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony where they met President and First Lady Obama. The parents behind Joyous Quintet run Joyous Music School in Hicksville, New York. Individual classes are offered in piano, string and woodwind ($40/30 minutes; $80/60 minutes). Little Big Shots airs Sundays at 8pm on NBC.
