Malik Heard on ‘The Voice’ Compared To Justin Timberlake

Malik Heard is the 19-year-old from Dallas, Texas who’s competing on Season 10 of The Voice. When he performs the Nick Jonas song “Chains” for his Blind Audition, coaches Christina Aguilera and Pharrell Williams turn their chairs. When Malik says his influences are Sam Smith, Bruno Mars, and Justin Timberlake, Xtina jumps in, “Well, you can do all of that.” Pharrell agrees, “You can do all of that with either one of us,” and then he drops, “I worked with Justin [Timberlake] when he was your age.” Pharrell throws in Britney Spears’ name, too.

Of course Xtina knew and worked with Timberlake and Spears before Pharrell met them (on the Mickey Mouse show). Difference is – Xtina performed with Timberlake and Spears, Pharrell produced their music. To help seal the deal, Pharrell compares Xtina to a “growing plant” and himself to “the greenhouse.” The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
