In The Grinder episode “Genesis,” the dramatic Dean Sanderson (Rob Lowe) loses his ability to grind after therapy with his doctor/lover (Maya Rudolph). So Dean focuses his attention on the case of the office being ransacked. During the episode, Dean has a number of flashbacks to his pre-Grinder days as a struggling actor. Back then, he was engaged to a controlling young woman named Kelly.
Kelly is portrayed by Jenna Fischer who is currently starring with Lowe on NBC’s You, Me and the Apocalypse. The multi-talented Fischer is also stirring the pot on NBC’s The Mysteries of Laura as ADA Jennifer Lambert who’s going after Laura Diamond’s (Debra Messing) ex-husband. The Grinder airs Tuesdays at 9:30pm on FOX.
