“The guilt means your work is not yet finished,” says the man of the cloth. Damn good news for Daredevil fans. Not finished by a long shot. The Daredevil Season 2 trailer that dropped this week is terrifyingly haunting, with its strangely beautiful sonic background of women in full Gregorian chant mode. The Man Without Fear will face new heights of conflict, Netflix promises, as The Punisher — hellbent vigilante — enters the scene. It’s one degree of separation between hero and villain — a tiny one.
The violence, the high voices soaring, the dark center of the story ready to burst into flame — it reminds us of a line the ferocious former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson once uttered. An interviewer told the undefeated Tyson pre-fight that his opponent had a foolproof plan to defeat the champ. Tyson replied coolly: “Everybody has a plan — until they get punched in the face.” From the looks of these trailers, Daredevil (and Hell’s Kitchen) looks ready to explode. The Man Without Fear will have a hard time finishing Season 2 that way. Daredevil Season 2 is out March 18. Season 1 is here.
