BET is premiering a new scripted show, The Start Up. It’s about a young entrepreneur, Blake Monroe, who’s the founder of TheJetsetters.com, an entertainment and lifestyle blog. While Monroe and his friends strive for fame and fortune, they must also deal with the responsibilities of adulthood.
Blake Monroe is portrayed by the 20-year-old singer/actor Diggy Simmons. He’s the fourth child of Joseph “Rev. Run” Simmons of Run DMC. The Start Up isn’t Simmons’ first time on TV. He was on the MTV reality show Run’s House and appeared on Rev Run’s Sunday Suppers. The Start Up premieres on BET on September 19 at 8pm. It’s a two-hour pilot.
