US Women’s World Cup star Megan Rapinoe is using her international visibility — not to mention her bad-ass feet — to promote the nonprofit Athlete Ally, which works toward “a future where sports welcome everyone, without prejudice or stereotypes, by activating athletic communities to champion LGBT equality.”
Many straight athletes support the cause, too. But Rapinoe is very much a part of the LGBT community. She’s in a relationship with the singer Sera Cahoone. Cahoone’s Twitter profile modestly says she “sings songs, plays drums in Seattle.” But she’s toured with some big names and released three albums. Cahoone’s self-titled debut album came out in 2006, followed by Only as the Day Is Long (2008) and Deer Creek Canyon (2012).
