So You Think You Can Dance is in the third round of auditions in Los Angeles. For the 12th season, the show is dividing dancers into two teams – Team Stage (ballet, tap, ballroom, contemporary) and Team Street (hip hop, popping, breaking, animation). Many die-hard SYTYCD watchers don’t like the new format and they’re not shy about saying so.

On the SYTYCD Facebook page, Cheryl Vetter wrote: “Team Street is a waste of time, just a ploy to boost ratings among people who have little interest in dance.” Ouch. Tom Marr didn’t pick sides, he just wants the whole format eliminated. “I’m for ‘Team get rid of this stupid format and bring back the successful one of years past.’” Mark A Smith put his opinion more elegantly. He said he’s for Team Dance. “It matters not where beauty comes from.” So You Think You Can Dance airs Mondays at 8pm on Fox.
