Beck, whose last album Morning Phase won the Grammy for Album of the Year, something which pleased everyone except Kanye West, has just produced a new single. “Dreams” is a catchy, upbeat, radio-friendly pop ditty. It’s definitely danceable; expect to hear this blaring at every party this summer. If Morning Phase was a mournful, damp November day of an album, then “Dreams” is a beam of warm, dappled summer sunlight. Beck is obviously a lot happier now than last year. If you want to hear Beck sing “Dreams” live and happen to be in Europe this summer, check his tour dates here.
In an interview with Los Angeles radio station Alt 98.7, the virtuoso musician explains that the song started off “as a heavy garage rock thing and became much more of a dance — some kind of hybrid.” The single will be on Beck’s new album. No title or release date has been confirmed yet. In the meantime, get your groove on. Just don’t tell Kanye.
