Absolutely Anything is one of the last film projects the late, great, troubled Robin Williams worked on. And listening to his voice on the movie will further mystify those who can’t understand how anyone who could engender such pure joy could meet such a grisly end. Williams shocked the world with his suicide in August 2014.
Williams’ performance in Absolutely Anything — as far as the newly released trailer shows — displays all the critical elements of his comic genius and the large-heartedness that fueled it. Williams voices a character named Dennis the Dog. It’s a perfect match for Williams innate generosity. Dennis the Dog has special powers (he speaks) — much like Williams himself had — that he uses to guide his master Neil to understand and properly use his own special powers. Sort of like what Williams did for so many of his fans over the years. Absolutely Anything is due in theaters in August.
