Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig have made a Lifetime movie. The news broke yesterday, so it’s understandable if you think it’s an elaborate April Fools’ Day joke, but it’s a real thing. The movie – with the most Lifetime movie title possible, A Deadly Adoption – is a dramatic thriller about “a successful couple who house and care for a pregnant woman with the hopes of adopting her unborn child.” Being a Lifetime movie, of course, things don’t go as planned: expect dramatic pauses, ominous violins on the soundtrack, and sudden revelations.
But you can expect some laughs, too, as the film is being described as “campy and fun” with many nods to the genre of the suburban domestic thriller, something of a Lifetime staple. The channel is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Ferrell is apparently a huge fan of Lifetime movies. Ferrell is co-starring with Kevin Hart in Get Hard. Wiig is currently set to co-star with Zach Galifianakis in the comedy Masterminds.
