The two-night TV special, The Dovekeepers, focuses on three fiercely independent women who were forced out of Jerusalem by the Romans (70 C.E.) and kept in a fortress in the desert. Based on Alice Hoffman’s historical novel of the same title, the show focuses on the lives of three women who work as dovekeepers at Masada, the mountain in the Judean desert. One of the women is Yael. “Her mother died in childbirth, and her father, an expert assassin, never forgave her for that death.”
Yael is portrayed by Rachel Brosnahan. She’s best known for her roles as Rachel Posner the Call Girl in House of Cards, and Jolene/Lucy Brooks on The Blacklist. She’s currently working on a thriller, a film called The Finest Hours with Chris Pine (Star Trek), Ben Foster (Breaking Bad), Casey Affleck (Insterstellar), and Holliday Grainger (Cinderella).
