The first Mexican woman to land a big part in the James Bond franchise, Stephanie Sigman, will play opposite Daniel Craig in the upcoming Bond flick Spectre. The 27-year-old will doubtless find herself in danger during Bond’s escapades, but nothing like the danger she saw in Miss Bala, the stark Mexican drama that made her a star. In Miss Bala Sigman plays a beauty queen who is kidnapped and forced into practical slavery.
If that doesn’t make the Bond gig a breeze, consider that Sigman will play Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar’s mistress in the Netflix series Narcos. Escobar was not a gentle soul. On the FX series The Bridge, Sigman played–surprise–the girlfriend of a contract killer. When she escaped that life she was abused by police. For all the abuse though, Sigman has some respite: the camera absolutely loves her. Given her recent roles, James Bond’s shenanigans should feel like Disneyland to Stephanie Sigman.
