At the amfAR New York Gala in New York City, actress Rosario Dawson was honored for her work with the charity. Her friend, comedian/film director Chris Rock helped with the honors by giving her a roasting of sorts. The two star together in Rock’s directorial debut Top Five.
Rock quipped at the dais: “I’m a little late, I went to the other Cipriani,” He added, “I was uptown. Brian Williams told me it was there. Lying bastard.” Amid news of Rock’s split with his wife Malaak Compton-Rock, there have been rumors about Rock and Dawson dating. Rock, kind of, squashed those rumors. He addressed all Dawson’s philanthropic efforts, “This is why we never dated – because you’re so [bleeping’ busy, [I] can’t get in there! [I] want to get in there, [but] it’s like, ‘I can’t, I’m saving lives.’ What can you say to that?” Note: Rock’s soon-to-be ex-wife is also a philanthropist.
