Fox News maestro Bill O’Reilly is defending a story that some believe was misleading about his coverage of the 1982 Falklands War. O’Reilly says the fib charge is blowback from the liberal media after their own fabrication-prone darling, Brian Williams, got slammed for his loose relationship with fact.
Geraldo Rivera, recent runner-up to Leeza Gibbons on Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice, agrees. When Williams went down the left went hunting for some right wing targets, Rivera says. And no one’s bigger on the right than O’Reilly. “It was the yin and the yang,” asserts Rivera, who has also been in defense mode, busy defending statements he recently made about hip-hop culture being damaging to youth. Rivera’s response to that quagmire was–in keeping with the character of both men–an example O’Reilly followed: Don’t back down, double down.
