Actress Toni Collette (Little Miss Sunshine, United States of Tara) shaved her head (and dyed the stubble platnium blond) for her role as a cancer victim in the upcoming film Miss You Already. Collette joins a growing list of actresses willing to cut their tresses for a part. Charlize Theron shaved it all off to star in Mad Max 4: Fury Road. Other notables include: Demi Moore (G.I. Jane), Cynthia Nixon for the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Wit, and Natalie Portman gets it taken off as a form of torture in V for Vendetta. And perhaps the most memorable bald leading lady was Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley in Alien 3.
Celebrities disqualified from the list include Britney Spears (it wasn’t for a role) and Anne Hathaway, who admitted to crying when her long locks were cut for Les Miserables–but she didn’t go totally bald. Hathaway does get credit for losing 25 lbs. for the role, but that’s another list.
