President Obama was in Maryland to campaign for Democratic candidate Anthony Brown, who wants to be governor. It was billed as Obama’s first campaign event of the year, but the thrill is gone apparently. Reuters reported that a “steady stream of people walked out of the auditorium while [Obama] spoke.”
There was an 8,000 person large crowd to begin with, so it’s not as if the president can no longer draw them in. But a bored contingent leaving before the president, once famous for his galvanizing style of oratory, was even finished speaking? That was unimaginable just a few short years ago. Anthony Brown has a double-digit lead in the polls.
