Maria Shriver filed for divorce from her husband, the former governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2011. After 25 years of marriage, Shriver learned that Schwarzenegger admitted to fathering a child out of wedlock with a member of their household staff.
Since the divorce, Schwarzenegger has returned to acting (The Expendables 3) and Shriver has returned to broadcast journalism. Since 2013, she’s been working as a special anchor and correspondent for NBC News. Shriver, niece of President John F. Kennedy, US Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy and Senator Ted Kennedy, tends to interview celebrities and report “inspirational stories.” This week she co-hosted the NBC Today show with Matt Lauer to fill Savannah Guthrie’s spot while Guthrie’s on maternity leave. (Shriver has experience on the set, she co-hosted the Sunday edition of Today from 1987-90.) This week on-air, Shriver said “I finally feel like a homecoming queen.”
