You’d be a great celebrity, right? None of this going off the rails and punching Justin Bieber. No mug shots, no drug binges. Just kindness and light, right? All that money and fame wouldn’t change you–it’d only make you more generous and thoughtful. We know. But still you wouldn’t be the best celebrity, because the most popular singer in America, Taylor Swift, has the title all sewn up. She visits sick kids hospitals, and not just for the photo ops either. (The video below is hardly the Taylor Swift video team making a professional ad for Swift’s generosity.) And she hangs around, too, doesn’t just show her face. That’s why there are so many Swifties–her fans. You have to somehow go beyond the music to account for the 42.4 million Twitter followers.
You’d also need–on your celebrity quest–to do some stuff besides hospital visits to catch up with Swift. Here are just a few pages out of Taylor Swift’s Generosity Book. She donated 14,000 books to the Nashville Public Library–plus 6,000 to a library back in her native Pennsylvania. She works with UNICEF’s Tap Project to raise money so people around the world have access to clean water. If there’s a tornado she’s there with a check. Goodness she even helped save the Nashville Symphony.
