Singer, actress, director and all-around diva Barbra Streisand joined Instagram with a photo of her and her dog Samantha. In the photo, Babs is wearing a high-necked collar with a long black bow, dark stockings and elegant heels. She clearly adores Samantha. She compares the fluffy white dog to the daughter she never had. Streisand isn’t known to dabble in social media so the Instagram entry is causing speculation.
Streisand has been on a recent campaign to raise awareness for women’s heart disease, the #1 killer of women, so perhaps she’ll use Instagram to spread the word. She’s also very vocal about climate change, same-sex marriage, Monsanto, abortion rights, Hobby Lobby, immigration reform and corporate tax evasion, among other political topics. Or she could be preparing to promote her latest untitled film project--about the tumultuous love affair between photographer Margaret Bourke-White and author Erskine Caldwell (Tobacco Road, God’s Little Acre).
