Timothy Murray, a Republican challenger in Oklahoma’s Third Congressional District, has said he will contest the results of a primary giving the victory to incumbent Frank Lucas. The reason? Quite simple. Representative Lucas, Murray claims, “is no longer alive and has been displayed by a look-alike.” The claims were made on Mr. Murray’s website, which has since removed the content. Murray’s site said that Lucas, along with other Oklahoma State Congress members, were executed by the World Court in southern Ukraine last January, in a widely televised spectacle. In the time since then, Frank Lucas has been played by a carefully crafted robot stand-in.
It remains to be seen how the news will affect voters’ views if a new election should be called. The robot won the first one with eighty-three percent of the vote to Murray’s five.
