To promote her latest film, Sex Tape, Cameron Diaz was interviewed on KIIS 106.5’s Kyle & Jackie O show. While there was plenty to talk about — it’s the first film where Cameron Diaz is totally naked — one of the hosts, Kyle Sandilands, made a comment about Diaz’s friend Drew Barrymore’s troubled years as a teenager struggling with substance abuse. Diaz retorted sarcastically: “I’m sure, Kyle, you’ve never been through a drug phase…Pretty clean…always did it right?” Diaz then cut the interview short. In another interview, Diaz was asked to set the record straight about her rumored sexual relationship with Barrymore in the August issue of Harper’s Bazaar. (Spoiler alert: it says the two have never been sexually intimate.)
This week Diaz’s pal Drew is grieving the death of her half-sister, Jessica Barrymore. (They had the same father, John Drew Barrymore.) Jessica Barrymore was found in a car with white pills scattered across the passenger seat. Unlike Drew, Jessica Barrymore will not reach the next phase in life, where a famous friend can defend her virtue against the mention of past indiscretions. Some people–like Drew Barrymore–are luckier than others.
