When Vine video star Cameron Dallas rolls himself up in a rug, accidentally breaks the handle off a door and has a pillow fight with friends, millions of his fans watch. He doesn’t act, sing, or perform magic tricks. He just behaves like a typical teenager. He and fellow Vine star Nash Grier have so many fans that they’re now selling t-shirts and sweatpants (teen clothing staples) with their logos (yes, logos) emblazoned on them.
Now Dallas and Grier have a movie deal with AwesomenessTV, which was acquired by DreamWorks last year for $150 million. AwesomenessTV CEO and TV veteran actor Brian Robbins will oversee the making of a film starring the pair. Robbins has been on so many syndicated sitcoms, it’s hard to list just a few: Newhart, Taxi, Knight Rider, Three’s Company, Full House. But he’s probably best remembered as the tough kid, Eric, on the 1980s TV series Head of the Class. So Robbins knows teen talent when he sees it.
