Recent college grad Matt Miller (Colorado State University, 2012) keeps two day jobs. He’s the managing editor of his hometown’s music blog – The Denver Post’s Reverb – and a contributing writer for Forbes. Yes, the national business magazine Forbes. Steve Forbes isn’t his great uncle, and no he didn’t graduate from an Ivy League school. As he explains in one of his Forbes articles, “How To Get Your Dream Job Before Graduating from College,” he was willing to work for free, and he listened to Jay-Z for an entire hour before his interview. Confidence is key.
For Forbes, Miller tends to write about media and tech trending–with Millennials like himself in mind. Subjects include Facebook ads that will annoy your friends, cool GIFs for mobile Vimeo videos, and questions like did you pay too much for your iPhone 5. If you’re like Miller – “a broke twenty-something” – you probably did.
