In a first-round game of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in Indianapolis, the Kentucky Wildcats will face the Northern Kentucky Norse. While Kentucky has made 56 appearances in the NCAA Tournament, this is Northern Kentucky’s first-ever appearance at the big dance. The NKU Norse is led by head coach John Brannen, the university’s fifth coach in program history. Brannen joined the Norse in 2015 after years working as an assistant coach at Alabama, VCU, St. Bonaventure, Eastern Kentucky, and University of Charleston.
One week prior to the NCAA Tournament game against Kentucky, Brannen posted a photo of two Horizon League trophies on his desk with the caption: “Think we need a Trophy Case Norse Nation?” The Kentucky vs. Northern Kentucky game airs Thursday, March 16 at 9:30pm on CBS.
