Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene are two of the most powerful women in the U.S. House of Representatives, but power may be the only thing they have in common.
Pelosi, the California Democrat and former House Speaker, and Greene, the Republican newcomer from Georgia with current Speaker Kevin McCarthy‘s ear, rarely agree on policy or much else.
But this week — after a speech Greene gave at the Turning Point Action Conference went viral for its eloquent comparisons of Joe Biden, Lyndon Johnson and Franklin Delano Roosevelt — Pelosi’s appearance on CNN marked the first time the Democrat had ever echoed Rep. Greene’s sentiments in the public square.

Above is a clip of Pelosi’s appearance in which she says she is “so proud” of Biden and then, as Greene did, compares the President’s legislative accomplishments and ambitions to those of LBJ. Not satisfied with that comparison, Pelosi, again like Greene, adds FDR to the list of presidents Biden resembles most.
[NOTE: FDR is regularly ranked #3 among Presidents in U.S. history, after Washington and Lincoln. LBJ is #11 on the list.]
Here is Greene talking about Biden (and writing Pelosi’s script) in terms so agreeable to Democrats that the Biden team turned Greene’s speech into a campaign ad for Biden 2024.
Marjorie Taylor Greene thought her recent speech was an attack on @POTUS. It’s actually a huge compliment. She said @JoeBiden wants to finish “what FDR started” by supporting Medicare, rural poverty, and education.

Thank you @RepMTG!
More of this please. pic.twitter.com/DGKHnEaCmc
Greene, making an effort to sound contemptuous, enumerated Biden’s legislative priorities such as healthcare and education, saying that the President was working on finishing “what FDR started.”
Pelosi repeats Greene’s claims, saying that Biden has been “on a level with Lyndon Johnson or Franklin Roosevelt in terms of the caliber of legislation he passed for the good of the people.”
