The scene being shared widely by MAGA adherents is illustrative of the vast information and political divide in the United States. The video shows a confrontation between a group of bystanders identifying as veterans who are protesting, and a very senior veteran, in uniform for a parade, taking offense at the protest.
The protesters hold a sign that reads: “Trump: Veterans Aren’t Your Political Props.” (The prop accusation has been an issue for certain veterans groups since at least 2016.) The senior veteran reacts with a threat of brutal violence.

The group claims: “We’re all vets, just like you, sir.”
The senior veteran responds by asking challengingly: “Are you enjoying this country?”
The protesting veterans scream a reply, hard to decipher, but meant — like their sign — to communicate that they have some issues with how things in the country are going.
The senior veteran in response says: “give me a f_&%ing gun, I’ll shoot the sons of…” — proposing to commit a case of veteran on veteran violence.
The clip is going viral on the internet, where it has nearly a half million views on Twitter alone after being shared by MAGA “Post Apocalyptic War Lord” Stew Peters, an anti-Wokeness Christian rabble-rouser who comments approvingly: “Where has this guy been all my life?”
The comments on Peters’ post, being posted by Peters’ followers, are largely in favor of the elderly vet and his violent threat. Hardly any comment acknowledges the service of the far larger group of veterans that is protesting.
