Comedian, writer and director Neal Brennan has long been Dave Chappelle‘s comedy partner in crime — from the half-baked Half-Baked to the undeniably awesome and groundbreaking Chappelle’s Show. All the time, as Brennan reveals in the genius-level speech below, he got hardly any public credit — about which he seems to have zero regret.
But with a zinger in sight, the professional in Brennan ends by joking about how a single joke referencing Half-Baked will be “the only credit” he gets tonight, as Chappelle was honored with the prestigious Mark Twain Prize. Here’s Brennan’s awesome speech.
