On Season 2 of American Idol, judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan will meet Ryan Hammond. The young man from Modesto, California comes from a musical family and grew up singing in church. When not studying to become a nurse and working at a senior living facility in Pacifica, Hammond is making music. In 2018, he release his debut Christian/Gospel EP Tragedy to Triumph. See link below.

On social media, Hammond has shared his 10-year challenge (see before and after photos below) to lose weight. Two years ago he had gastric bypass surgery. He writes about the experience: “Almost lost my life, but began a journey to rediscover who I was without a desperate addiction to food.” He lost a total of 170 lbs and “put back 14 lbs. of muscle!” American Idol airs Sundays and Mondays at 8 pm on ABC.
