In the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode “Part 33,” A.D.A. Benjamin Stone (Philip Winchester) prosecutes the case of Annabeth Pearl (guest star Amy Rutberg, Marvel’s Daredevil). She confessed to killing her husband Thomas after a dinner party: she shot him three times while he watched TV.
The testimony of Lt. Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) is key but Benson is sympathetic to the defendant. Stone presents “a simple case” while Annabeth’s defense attorney Stella Russell tells the jury that Annabeth had endured six years of psychological abuse from her husband and says killing her husband was an act of self-preservation.
