In the Rel episode ‘Mom’, Rel (Lil Rel Howery) decides to see a therapist in effort to make peace with his mother’s death. Meanwhile, Rel’s father (Sinbad) tries to honor her passing by “celebrating” but has a hard time keeping it all together. The therapist, Dr. Roberts, is portrayed by Vernee Watson.
Vernee Watson is known for her roles on General Hospital (Stella Henry, for which she won a Daytime Emmy in 2018), The Big Bang Theory (Althea), Young Sheldon (Nurse Robinson), Two and a Half Men (Karen), The Young and the Restless (Birdie), Sister, Sister (Patrice), The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (Vy Smith), and Welcome Back, Kotter (Vernajean Williams), among others. Or you might remember her as Gwen in the 1976 TV movie The Boy in the Plastic Bubble with John Travolta. Rel airs Sundays at 9:30 pm on FOX, right after Family Guy.
