In The Cool Kids episode “Margaret Dates the Zodiac Killer,” Margaret (Vicki Lawrence) begins dating Karl, a fellow Shady Meadows resident who may or may not be the Zodiac Killer. Meanwhile, the guys are hunting for a different kind of criminal: a serial non-flusher.

Karl is portrayed by Ed Begley, Jr., who most recently played Jerry, Dede’s (Shelley Long) widow on Modern Family. Begley is also known for his roles on Better Call Saul (Clifford Main), Arrested Development (Stan), Portlandia (Doctor), Gary Unmarried (Dr. Walter Krandall), Veronica Mars (Cyrus O’Dell), Six Feet Under (Hiram Gunderson), 7th Heaven (Dr. Hank Hastings), St. Elsewhere (Dr. Victor Ehrlich), Battlestar Galactica (Greenbean), and Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman (Steve), among many others. The Cool Kids airs Fridays at 8:30 pm on FOX, right after Last Man Standing and right before Hell’s Kitchen.
