In the Lifetime movie Poinsettias for Christmas, a family’s poinsettia farm is in jeopardy when the plants haven’t turned red just weeks before Christmas. Poinsettia patriarch Greg Palmer (John Schneider, Bo Duke of The Dukes of Hazzard) calls his daughter Ellie (Bethany Joy Lenz, Haley on One Tree Hill) to come home and help figure out a solution. She does and along the way she falls in love with the local botanist Sean Dalton (Marcus Rosner). While at home, Ellie also spends quality time with her mother Katherine.
Ellie’s mother Katherine is portrayed by Sharon Lawrence. She’s known for her roles on Shameless (Margo), Rizzoli & Isles (Dr. Hope Martin), Drop Dead Diva (Bobbie Dobkins), One Tree Hill (Sylvia Baker), Monk (Linda Fusco), Ladies Man (Donna Stiles), and NYPD Blue (ADA Sylvia Costas-Sipowicz, for which she was nominated three times for a Primetime Emmy Award), among others.
