On Week 2 of The Voice Season 15, a soulful singer named Dave Fenley sings the 1990 Travis Tritt country ballad, “Help Me Hold On.” Kelly Clarkson is no fool, she hits her buzzer fast while Blake Shelton sings along and yes eventually he turns around. Dave (from Texas, where Kelly is from) needs to decide between the two. When Adam Levine tells Dave, “You’re one of my favorites in the competition” and calls him “miraculous,” Levine knows he doesn’t have a chance due to his country voice. But Dave is quick to point out that he likes more than country and demonstrates his variety of interests by beatboxing. He also mentions to Blake, “My mama requests a neck hug.”
While Dave deliberates between choosing Kelly and Blake as a coach, Dave’s mother is heard yelling at his son, “I need my hug, David!” The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
