In The Conners episode “Tangled Up in Blue,” Blue refers to David’s (Johnny Galecki) new girlfriend. (“Tangled Up in Blue” is also a reference to one of Bob Dylan’s most famous story songs.) On The Conners, David decides to introduce Blue to his ex Darlene (Sara Gilbert) at their son Mark’s parent/teacher conference. Blue is a free-spirit who says she’s only met Mark twice but “has known him forever.” When she shows up at the parent/teacher conference, Blue announces “the more parents the better,” which of course rubs Darlene the wrong way.
Blue is portrayed by Oscar-nominated actress Juliette Lewis. She’s known for her roles in the films August: Osage County (Karen Weston), Old School (Heidi), The Basketball Diaries (Diane Moody), Natural Born Killers with Woody Harrelson (Mallory Knox), What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (Becky), Romeo Is Bleeding (Sheri), Cape Fear (teenager Danielle Bowden), and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (Audrey), among many others. The Conners airs Tuesdays at 8 pm on ABC.
