Dancing with the Stars is back for Season 27 and it’s off to an unpredictable start. After the first week of performances, many Americans thought Bachelor Nation‘s Joe “Grocery Joe” Amabile was going to be the first one eliminated. But he wasn’t — Nikki Glaser was. Get ready for more interesting twists and turns during the second week. It’s a New York City theme. And celebrity contestant John Schneider and his pro partner Emma Slater are going to do a Charleston set to the Sammy Davis, Jr. song “New York’s My Home.”

The last two things that come to mind when we think of Schneider is New York City and Sammy Davis, Jr. However, we were surprised to learn that the Dukes of Hazzard and country music star was actually born in New York (Mount Kisco in Westchester County). He and his mother moved to Georgia when Schneider was 14. P.S. Sammy Davis, Jr. was born in Harlem in 1925. He was the son of vaudeville dancers who took him on tour at the age of three. Dancing with the Stars airs Mondays at 8pm on ABC.
