In the Season 4 premiere episode of Chicago Med, “Be My Better Half,” Ethan (Brian Tee) talks to April (Yaya DeCosta) about his sister Emily (Arden Cho) being clean — but April isn’t buying it. He says he wants to bring Emily to Connor’s party where he hopes the two women in his life can talk things through. April tells Ethan that Emily needs to be in rehab and needs psychotherapy (remember, Emily stole drugs from the hospital). Meanwhile, Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) clashes with the new hospital COO Gwen Garrett.
Gwen Garrett is portrayed by Heather Headley. The Broadway star is known for her stage roles in The Lion King (Nala), and as Aida in Aida for which she won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical. Headley is also recognized for her TV role as Dr. Jamison in the Netflix series She’s Gotta Have It. Chicago Med airs Wednesdays at 8pm on NBC.
