The audition of classical crossover singer Daniel Emmet on America’s Got Talent was a memorable one. While Daniel was singing an original song, Simon Cowell stopped the music and asked the 25-year-old singer if he had another prepared. Daniel said no. Simon gave him a second chance by giving him one hour to learn a song Daniel says he had never heard before. It was “Passera” by Simon Cowell’s crossover band Il Divo. When Daniel returned to the AGT stage, just 60 minutes later, he nailed it.

Surprising to many AGT fans, Daniel didn’t make it through the Judge Cuts but he has been called back to the AGT stage — at the legendary Dobly Theatre — as a Wild Card during the third round of the quarterfinals. He’s been spending a lot of time with the rest of the AGT acts who have made it through (and winners including Grace VanderWaal), and was even at the event where Simon Cowell was presented with his Hollywood Star of Fame. Just hours before his live quarterfinals performance, Daniel posed with the hashtag Grateful, see below. America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
