On the Season 13 premiere of America’s Got Talent, judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B, Howie Mandel and host Tyra Banks were wowed by the audition of Zurcaroh. They are a massive acrobatic dance troupe from Sao Paulo, Brazil. We counted 43 dancers total! The leader of the crew, Peterson da Cruz Hora, claims they are not professional dancers — “everyone is welcome” — but you could have fooled us. The breathtaking performance included torches, chanting, and swinging little girls in the air like they were jump ropes. Tyra Banks was so impressed, she gave Zurcaroh her Golden Buzzer which means the dancers go straight to the America’s Got Talent Live Shows.
Since their amazing audition on America’s Got Talent, Zurcaroh released its first short film titled “The Refuge.” It stars a 6-year-old girl who runs away from home when her parents fight while she tries to fall asleep. She runs into the woods and finds an old warehouse filled with dancers, acrobats and gymnasts. The film says it’s based on a true story. See 10-minute film below. New episodes of America’s Got Talent air Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC, right before World of Dance.
