On Season 2 of World of Dance, judges Jennifer Lopez, Derek Hough and Ne-Yo meet teenage ballroom dancers Jonas and Ruby from Miami, Florida. During the fourth week of qualifiers, Jonas and Ruby performed to the anthem “Legend” by The Score. After the performance, judge Ne-Yo told Ruby “you’re a star” and commented on how much he loves Jonas’ “monster face.” Jennifer Lopez called them “little firecrackers.” Jonas and Ruby advanced to the duels but ballroom dancer judge Derek Hough warned them that last season they had a junior ballroom duo who fell flat at the duels.
Ruby tells Derek, “That was my brother.” Ruby’s brother D’Angelo and his dance partner Amanda are also coached by Ruby’s father, choreographer Manny Castro, who is seen on World of Dance, coaching Jonas and Ruby in Spanish. Both of Manny’s children and their dance partners have competed on America’s Got Talent too (Season 8, 2013). See video below.
