Singer Joseph O’Brien of Columbia, Tennessee is competing on Season 13 of America’s Got Talent. Before his audition, supermodel Heidi Klum grills him about his love life which is a big fat zero. Joseph says he’s been “single my whole life” (he’s 20) and admits that he’s never been kissed. The admission provokes a big sympathetic “awww” from the audience. When Joseph gets behind his keyboard, he sings the lonely song “Hello” by Lionel Richie. The crowd likes it.

Joseph comes from a musical family. His father is Michael O’Brien, former lead singer of the Christian band Newsong (see link above). The band was formed in the early 1980s at Morningside Baptist Church in Valdosta, Georgia. After being on the road for seven years, Michael left the band to spend time with his wife Heidi (who sings too!) and his four children including Joseph. Since leaving NewSong , Michael O’Brien has released nine solo albums including Something About Us and Be Still My Soul. New episodes of America’s Got Talent air Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC, right before World of Dance.
