The Voice Live Finale will feature a number of cool duets. Returning coach Jennifer Hudson will sing the Hairspray song “I Know Where I’ve Been” with her former backup singer and Voice finalist Kyla Jade. Brynn Cartelli will perform a medley of Julia Michaels songs (“Issues” and “Jump”) and Britton Buchanan gets to perform with indie rock star Ryan Adams. They’re singing Adams’ new devastatingly lonely song, “To Be Without You” from his 16th studio album, Prisoner.

Adams said writing the ballad “broke my soul in a zillion pieces” and that his life depended on making the album. Otherwise, “I would have died inside if I hadn’t.” Adams wrote the record while going through “a very public divorce.” Adams was married to singer/actress Mandy Moore, star of the NBC drama This Is Us. Adams referred to his experience with divorce as “destructive on a level that I can’t explain.” The Voice Live Finale airs Tuesday, May 22 on NBC.
