Before the Top 8 are revealed on The Voice on Tuesday, May 8, two special musical guests will perform on The Voice stage. Charlie Puth will return (he sang at the Top 10 show, Season 12) and sing his new hit “Done For Me” and 5 Seconds of Summer (5SOS) will sing their comeback song “Want You Back.” It’s considered their comeback song since they haven’t released an album in three years (“Sounds Good Feels Good“, 2015).
[5SOS’s album Youngblood includes “Want You Back”]
5SOS is the Australian pop band that made a big splash when opening for that other boy band One Direction on their Take Me Home Tour in 2013. Since then, the four young men – Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood and Ashton Irwin – set up their own label, Hi or Hey Records, and are releasing their third album, “Youngblood” (see link above). The first single from Youngblood, “Want You Back”, is about a young man thinking about his ex who broke up with him. He tells her “I remember the freckles on your back/ And the way that I used to make you laugh,” among other sweet memories. The lyrics and music have matured since “She’s Kinda Hot” and “She Looks So Perfect.” The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
