Hannah Goebel is one of the few singers who got all four coaches to turn around during The Voice Blind Auditions this season (season 14). The 21-year-old from Nebraska sang Alicia Keys’ hit “If I Ain’t Got You” and knowing Hannah would likely choose Alicia as her coach, Kelly Clarkson blocked Alicia. Knowing that Kelly wanted her that badly (using her only block), Hannah chose to be on Team Kelly. For the Battles, Hannah Goebel faces 18-year-old Alexa Cappelli. One thing you’ll notice during The Voice Battles are Hannah’s eyes. During her audition Hannah closed her eyes for the most part while singing. One of the good pointers Kelly has given Hannah is to open her eyes when she sings. In the interview below, Hannah admits “I kinda close my eyes a lot when I sing because I just get really into it. But opening my eyes when I sing gives it a whole new perspective.” According to The Voice website, as a child Hannah suffered from ADHD and a vision disorder called convergence insufficiency which makes it hard for the eyes to focus. According to the Mayo Clinic it’s a condition that “causes one eye to turn outward instead of inward with the other eye creating double or blurred vision.” The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8pm on NBC.
