In the Fresh Off the Boat episode ‘Car Wash,’ Louis (Randall Park) tries to rekindle the flame with his wife Jessica (Constance Wu) by washing the family mini-van. Meanwhile, Evan (Ian Chen) “skips his way” into Emery’s (Forrest Wheeler) seventh grade English class. The class is taught by a particularly hard-to-please Ms. Doris.
Ms. Doris the teacher is portrayed by Tig Notaro. The stand-up comedian is known for her roles on the Amazon series One Mississippi (Tig, see link above), Transparent (Barb), The Sarah Silverman Program. (Tig), and In the Motherhood with Cheryl Hines (Rhoda), among others. In 2016, Notaro was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special for her HBO special Tig Notaro: Boyish Girl Interrupted. (The album was also nominated for a Grammy Award!) Fresh Off the Boat airs Tuesdays at 8:30pm on ABC, right after The Middle.
