Family by the Ton is a new docu-series on TLC. Similar to the TLC show My 600-lb. Life, Family by the Ton cameras follow people who are struggling with obesity. In this case, the people are related. Beverly is the family matriarch. She undergoes weight-loss surgery and hopes to inspire her daughter Naomi and Naomi’s two cousins Drew and Chitoka.
On the show, viewers follow Beverly to her appointments with Dr. Charles Procter Jr. who specializes in gastric bypass and bariatric surgeries in Atlanta. Dr. Procter is known for being the first in the state of Georgia to perform a robotic-assisted cholecystectomy in 2008, and being one of the first bariatric surgeons “to adopt the fully robotic approach to the roux-en-Y gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy.” His practice Beltline Bariatric and Surgical Group has two offices in Atlanta. Dr. Proctor talks about his love of surgery in the video below. Family by the Ton airs Wednesdays at 10pm on TLC, right after My 600-lb Life.
